Date position will begin: 8th September 2012 Job/apprenticeship description: The Advanced Apprentice Scheme is aimed predominantly at young people who have little or no work experience. It’s an award winning three-year programme designed to equip circa 200 apprentices (each year) with the skills and experience to become a Maintenance Engineering Technician. There is a structured and proven programme of training and development and it begins with a year at HMS Sultan in Gosport, Portsmouth. This first year gives you the opportunity to leave home and stand on your own two feet, to earn while you learn a valuable and exciting trade and to grow as an individual whilst meeting some 200 young people in the same boat as you. Qualifications/skills required for this job: Must have 4 GCSE’s at (C or above) in Maths, English, Science and an additional GCSE subject. If you do not possess the right Science qualification, we do accept NVQ, BTEC or City and Guilds in a practical subject such as Engineering. Minimum Age: Must be 17 by 8th September 2012 due to Rail Health & Safety Regulations Location of employer: First year is residential in Gosport Hours/days of work: Mon - Fri & Saturday morning, 35 hours a week
