Contacting an adviser

Free advice and guidance for 13 – 19 year olds

What we can offer

Free advice and support on any issue such as education, health, careers, relationships, training, jobs, money, drugs, benefits, housing, and the law.

How does it work?
You have access to our Connexions advisers who can talk things through with you and help you sort things out.

To talk to one of our Connexions advisers ask at school or contact your local Connexions centre.

Before you see an adviser

You told us that sometimes you would get more out of your time with an adviser if you were better prepared for the meeting.

Here’s how you can make the most of your meeting with an adviser:

  • Think about what questions you would like to ask and what you want to find out before you come in.
  • Bring in any grades you have (even predicted grades) or make sure you know what they are.
  • If you have an idea of a job or a course you like, do some research before coming to see your adviser.
  • If you want some help with your CV, bring it with you or put some ideas down on paper first.
  •

National Careers Service advisers

If for some reason you cannot see one of our advisers face-to-face, free online support is also available through the National Careers Service. You can contact a careers adviser by telephone, webchat, email or text message.

Call: 0800 100 900 (8 am to 10pm every day).

The National Careers Service has a moderated message board where you can post questions and read advice. They also run chat room sessions on a variety of topics.
