Foundation Learning - Axlr8, Motorbike Mechanics This course will train you in the basics of motorbike mechanics. You will be part of a group of up to 8 people. You will be work on 50cc and 125cc scooters and motorbikes in a relaxed workshop environment with our small team of skilled staff. You will strip down and rebuild a motorbike engine and learn how the engine works, what each different part is called and what it does. We will teach you how to maintain and service a motor bike by checking the brakes, tyres, fluids, and chain. You will learn how to use tools safely and with our support, learn how to get the best out of your time in the workshop. You will also learn vehicle refinishing: You will prepare surfaces for painting, use two-pack and cellulose paints, primer, and apply graphics and lacquer. You will also learn about Health and Safety in the workshop Around 75% of your time will be spent in the workshop working on the bikes. 25% of your time will be spent putting together a folder about your work so that you can complete an ABC Level 1 qualification in Motor Vehicle Studies. If you need help with your reading, writing or maths we will support you. You will also have an chance to gain some smaller, shorter qualifications around CV writing, and interview skills which will help you when you apply for jobs, apprenticeships and college courses. If your attendance remains high, and you complete the course work, we will pay for your provisional licence and CBT at the end of the course. Hours/days you attend: The programme is 16 hours per week (You will either attend on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday OR Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Hours are 10am until 3.30pm.
