Careers education courses

The Careers Education and Information Team (CEdIT) can provide a range of courses to help colleagues improve their practice in careers education, information, advice and guidance and other work with young people.

Full day and part-day courses could include:

  • Managing your careers and options information provision - How to choose high quality, impartial careers and options information for your students
  • Work-readiness - Encouraging the skills and attitudes your students will need in the workplace (Secondary/Primary focus)
  • What does Raising the Participation Age (RPA) mean for your students? - Helping students understand their options and make decisions
  • Managing and developing careers education within your curriculum
  • Working one to one with young people
  • Work, apprenticeship or university? Your students' options after post-16 education
  • STEM - How to develop your students' understanding of STEM careers
  • Understanding and using labour market information (LMI) with students
  • Career Mark How to get accreditation for your organisation
  • LECAP  Introductory and refresher courses

Accredited Careers Education courses

The courses below have been developed in response to the increasing need for improved CEIAG to support young people with the decisions they make through and beyond the 11-19 phase of their learning. The courses focus on leading, managing, coordinating and contributing to programmes of careers education, information, advice and guidance, enabling learners to obtain accreditation for work based activities.

Derby University

The East Midlands Consortium, in partnership with the International Centre for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) at the University of Derby, has introduced two new qualifications in Careers Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG):
