Listening to the site

Click on the Listen symbol symbol . A new toolbar allows you to have text read out to you. You can listen to a certain section of text by hovering the cursor over the text and clicking on the speech bubble

or

  • Select the text you want to listen to using the mouse and click on the read text icon.
  • If you only want to hear the links on a page click on read links.

Magnifying the site

Click on the Listen symbol symbol. A new toolbar allows you to download Lightning Magnifier, a magnification software proramme. Whatever appears on your computer screen can be magnified up to 32 times. You can magnify the entire screen or an area you choose.

Changing contrast

Click on the Listen symbol symbol. A new toolbar allows you to download Claroview. This is software that provides tinted overlays to make browsing and reading on screen easier. You can change the colour of your screen tint and can vary the level of tint.

Changing text size in your web browser

  • Internet Explorer: View > Text size;
  • Firefox: View > Text size;
  • Opera: File > Preferences > Fonts > Minimum font size (pixels).
  • Alternatively, scroll with the wheel of your mouse whilst holding down the control key.

Table of accesskeys

Access keys let you navigate around without using your mouse. They can be used to jump directly to different sections without having to move your mouse at all.

How to use Access Keys in your Browser

Internet Explorer 5+ (PC) Hold down the ALT key, press the number of the access key, release both keys then press ENTER
Internet Explorer 4 (PC) Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key
Internet Explorer 5+ (Mac) Hold down the CTRL key and press the number of the access key
Internet Explorer 4.5 (Mac) Access keys are not supported
Netscape 6 and earlier (PC and Mac) Access keys are not supported
Netscape 7 (PC) Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key
Firefox, Mozilla (PC) Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key
Firefox, Mozilla (Mac) Hold down the CTRL key and press the number of the access key
Safari and Omniweb (Mac) Hold down the CTRL key and press the number of the access key
Opera Hold down the Shift key and press Escape, release both keys, then press the number of the accesskey
