Reds

When Everton FC left Anfield, Liverpool FC was being established by John Houlding. He was determined that Liverpool were going to become a big club. Originally the club was going to be called Everton FC and Athletic Grounds or Everton Athletic for short. But when the football association refused to recognise the name as Everton FC because of confusion with the other Everton FC (toffees) the name was changed to Liverpool FC.

In the first season Liverpool FC did tremendous work by winning the Lancashire League and were nominated to the Football League second division for the season 1893-94. Liverpool ended the season unbeaten as second division champions, and got promoted to the first division, the highest level of English football at the time.

Leicester connection?

Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world but Leicester City Football Club has beaten them in the Premier League once and beat them in the FA Cup Final in April 1963 which is a big achievement for the Foxes.

Another notable Leicester connection is the sale of Emile Heskey to Liverpool for £13 million on 3rd of March 2000. This is still Leicester's biggest money transfer and a lot of people still haven't forgiven Peter Taylor for spending the money on players that took the club down to the Championship.
