To ensure that learning is recognised and embedded reflection needs to be built in to the programme. Ideally this is a time to encourage young people to highlight key learning from the session in terms of knowledge and skills (PLTS). Having clear learning outcomes will help staff to do this effectively and ensure they have been met.
Ideally learning organisations will have a whole school process for recording of achievement or Progress File. Encouraging young people to keep evidence within a portfolio and be responsible for it, gives a feeling of ownership. This can form the basis of action plans, career planning and CVs/personal statements.
